Time to say goodbye to the trees
This week's update vlog takes us outside to start taming the site and involves some big compromises over character vs safety, access to finance and insurance. The cottage garden gets a manicure at floor level (to make picking dog poop up easier, of course) as we wait for the ride-on mower and compact tractor to arrive, and we head up to the field for the first time to discuss what the potential plans are for the grass management there.
A lot of people will think I'm crazy being so cut up over a few trees (pun absolutely intended), but try to remember some of these trees have been here for over a hundred years, and although they need to come down - either fully or in part - they were a big part of the connection with nature at the site.
Of course, all will be replaced somewhere on the site, in some way, shape or form! If anyone could advise on the brown-leafed trees in the comments, we would really appreciate it!
