Stripping the Farmhouse
Because of how wet the floors and walls are in the main farmhouse from multiple different leaks, it was vital that any coverings like carpets or wet walls, ceilings and so on were removed as soon as possible to try and get the drying process started. 3ft wide stone walls take months and months to dry out properly, so we wanted to a good start here.
Adding this from the future: The comments of previous videos did not pass the vibe check, hence the addition of a firm explanation of how we work as a couple. The same narrative has run on through every single video ever since, which is a main factor in why we're not posting much publicly anymore - it simply isn't worth the agro!
To recap how we looked in the beginning:
Every room had mould in it all over, mostly from condensation rather than major leaks. However, all of the large mould colonies were from substantial water ingress either recently or slowly over a longer period. In South West Scotland the rain can be relentless and overall we get more rain than the east side of the country. Failing gutters, a lack of drainage and poor roof coverings left this 300sqm property in pieces.
The main aim was to get it dry, as fast as possible. 8 months on I can now say that it is 🥳
